A day after 18-year-old Levi Johnston was revealed as the future father of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s grandchild, his closest friends touted him as a standup dude.
“Of course he is psyched to be a father,” said Blake Weiland, 18. “I mean he loves the idea of being a father and raising a child.”Johnston, who was a hockey star at his Wasilla, Alaska, high school, has so far avoided the red-hot spotlight his extracurricular activities with Palin’s daughter Bristol have garnered.
He’ll have a tougher time dodging attention when he joins the Palin family today at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. His mother said he’s bent on seeing his future mother-in-law nominated as vice president.
Sherry Johnston said Tuesday that she’s worried for her boy as he braces for fatherhood while trying not to drown in a media storm.
“This is out of my league,” she told The Associated Press as reporters camped outside her house. “I’m just a country gal and I want to keep it that way.”
