Eisner Remakes Romero’s Crazies

May 8, 2008

Director Breck Eisner told SCI FI Wire that the military will have a more subtle presence in his version of George Romero’s The Crazies, which he plans to shoot this summer, but that it will reflect the times in a similar fashion.

“George['s film] had this antiwar bent to it in the aftermath of Korea and Vietnam, and we’re clearly in that mindset now,” Eisner (The Creature From the Black Lagoon) said in an interview following a news conference in Pasadena, Calif., last week for NBC’s horror anthology Fear Itself. Romero’s movie came out in 1973.
