Nicolas Cage doesn’t steal dogs nor drive drunk, yet supports the elderly
April 4, 2008
Nicolas Cage settled his libel lawsuit against Kathleen Turner in a London court. She falsely claimed in her autobiography, “Send Yourself Roses,” that he was arrested for DUI and did something terrible to a Chihuahua during the filming of “Peggy Sue got Married.”
Nic’s public statement at the time: “I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog. I am reaching out to my fans — many of whom are children — so they know that I do not condone drunk driving or theft. The reason why you’ve never seen a mug shot of me is because it does not exist.”
Turner’s lawyer, her book publisher and the Daily Mail did an “our bad’ and promised to make a hefty donation to the charity of his choice. Cage reportedly chose one that helps the victims of elder abuse.
