Simon Pegg is no longer a ‘Bastard’ — he’s Greg Mottola’s Paul

In good news, he says that Greg Mottola, who directed the excellent Superbad, will be calling the shots on Paul, the upcoming movie written by Pegg and Nick Frost. Details on the script are minimal at the moment, but it is known that the story concerns the pair taking a road trip across America and, as Jessica Hynes let slip in our Comic-Con video diaries, the story will start at San Diego Comic-Con.
In bad news, Pegg will no longer be appearing in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards. Pegg was set to play a British officer, but scheduling difficulties mean that he has had to withdraw.

SIMON’S BLOG: Bad news.
Much to our mutual disappointment, I won’t be appearing in QT’s forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties. We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere.
I’m trying to remain upbeat, as Tom Selleck said “Who the hell is Indiana Jones anyway?”

But “superbad” as in really good, as in the the film, Superbad, directed by Greg Mottola who, coincidentally will be directing mine and Nick’s new movie, Paul. So there it is, the superbad, good news…
