Tom Cruise launches the official TomCruise.com
Exclusive: As originally reported by Hollywood Newsroom, Tom Cruise has launched tomcruise.com this morning at noon eastern. This is smack dab in the middle of his 2 part Oprah special and his 25th anniversary of Risky Business — as he tries to re-boot his career and stay relevant to movie goers AND us ADHD internet, PS3 and twitter facebooky kids (many of which don’t remember Cocktail or Born on the Forth of July, just his Youtube Oprah couch jumping antics and battles with Matt Lauer and Brooke Shields). This is a very smart PR strategy to control the message, to drive people to the official Tom Cruise site instead of tomcruiseisnuts.com (which comes up 3rd from the top when you search on “Tom Cruise” in Google).
It is an aggressive campaign. To drive people to the official TomCruise.com web site, he has acquired google adwords to drive web surfers to his web site. He is bidding on keyword searches — when people search on “Tom Cruise” — a paid link to his web site appears. Hollywood Newsroom was the first to report on the google adwords campaign — and that the official Tom Cruise web site of TomCruise.com would be launching on Monday.
