Jessica Alba, Steve Nash in online staring contest

It was only a matter of time before the staring contest made its way online. But now it’s here in a big way. Celebrities, athletes and YouTube stars have been making headlines by challenging and beating each other at video staring contests for the last couple of days. Contest progenitor Baron Davis only held his stare for a few piddling seconds, an easy threshold for the wily kevjumba to pass. Alba smashed ‘jumba with no problem. But it was Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash–freshly on vacation–who out-stared them all.
This is all part of a viral promotion for ibeatyou.com, the online contest site where anyone can challenge anyone else to anything. The site is headed by Cash Warren, Alba’s beau/babydaddy, and also high school buddy of Baron Davis (they went to the Crossroads School together). Warren has more Hollywood tentacles than Ursula the sea witch–even I know him from college–and he’s using what he’s got to build ibeatyou into a tidy little community of competitors, including a few celebrities with good senses of humor (and eye muscle control).
