Hannah Montana captures box office crown

Urgh! Two weeks in a row we’ve underestimated the eventual box office winner. Last week it was Fast & Furious, this week is was Hannah Montana: The Movie. The Miley Cyrus vehicle nabbed $34 million – around $5 million more than we had predicted it would top out at. Furious score just over $28 million, while Monsters vs. Aliens came in at $22.6 million – about what we’d predicted. Seth Rogan’s new film, Observe and Report, did worse than expected – garnering only $11 million. Dragonball Evolution was even crappier than thought – not even making the $5 million mark. Sad note: the well-reviewed Adventureland will die an early death and fall out of the top 10 next week. Sad fate for a good film. Also, Julia Roberts latest, Duplicity will also be gone, marking a big disappointment for the former box office queen.
