Will Ferrell goes Broadway for ‘Bush’

Will Ferrell will make his Broadway debut in January in the new solo comedy “You’re Welcome America. A Final Night With George W Bush.”
Production will be helmed by Adam McKay, the writer-director of Ferrell pics “Step Brothers,” “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.”

Plot of the show remains sketchy, but the title and timing suggest a Bush caricature and plenty of topical humor. – from Variety

Enid the Sleestak! Will Ferrell! Land of the Lost!

Collider got their hands on a new picture from Land of the Lost, the Will Ferrell/Danny McBride adaptation of the classic (and, in retrospect, terrible) kiddie show featuring dinosaurs and lizard men. Those lizard men are the Sleestaks, but they weren’t always hissing monstrosities – they once had a civilization and were known as the Altrusians. A time traveling Altrusian lives in the Land of the Lost, a dude by the name of Enik, who guards a time portal (in the original series, at least). Enik could talk and wear clothes, unlike the degraded, devolved Sleestaks.

The new picture is of Will Ferrell standing next to Enik. The movie version, anyway, who has one big head. Collider’s not one hundred percent sure where the image comes from or what it is, but let them rest assured at the very least that they have the first pic of Enik.

Will Ferrell’s ‘Sherlock’ Comedy Stays True To Book, Will Draw On Original Stories

It’s elementary, my dear Watsons. Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell are starring in a Sherlock Holmes movie together. Baron Cohen and Ferrell are known for their comedic talents. Their Sherlock Holmes will therefore eschew a real mystery plot, and simply focus on the laughs. Simple deduction!

Except it’s not at all true, “Holmes” screenwriter Etan Cohen insisted, telling MTV News that he prefers to have his pipe and smoke it too.

“What’s been exciting is to do a giant comedy but at the same time try to be true to the mechanics of a Sherlock Holmes story like using the Victorian forensics that Conan Doyle used,” Cohen said. “It’s a cool opportunity to write a good mystery that also gets to be a giant comedy. Fortunately a lot of the stories are public domain now. We can actually draw on a lot of the situations and language of many of the original stories.”

Anchorman 2?!

From EW:

Ron Burgundy fans rejoice! It looks like Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, the brains behind Anchorman, are ready to put the sexist, freewheeling newscaster back in the anchor chair. McKay tells EW.com that he and Ferrell have begun work on a sequel that could jump ahead a decade to the ’80s. (We can see it now: Ron discovers hair mousse.) DreamWorks says it hasn’t yet talked to the duo, but that doesn’t mean Ferrell and McKay aren’t dreaming up inappropriate new plots. “The audience will now allow us to do even crazier stuff,” McKay says, “and that’s really all we’re looking for in our careers.”

Marshall, Will and Holly! And lots of Sleestaks! Land of the Lost picture!!!

Will Ferrell attached to new project from Hancock scrib

From THR:

Will Ferrell could soon be putting on another face.

The star of Columbia’s upcoming “Step Brothers” is attached to “2-Face,” a comedy from “Hancock” writer Vince Gilligan. The project is set up at Sony.

Gilligan’s script, which has had a long gestation period at the studio but had not been reported, is a concept comedy involving a character with a split personality: One part of him is a racist, and the other is a bleeding-heart liberal.

Mosaic Media and “Chronicles of Narnia” producer Mark Johnson are on board to produce. The search for a director is under way.

While “2-Face” is described as a comedy with mainstream appeal — familiar terrain for Ferrell — Gilligan’s credits and the story’s socially relevant hook might give the role added heft. Ferrell has tried his hand at more serious roles, most notably in Marc Forster’s 2006 drama “Stranger Than Fiction.”

Will Ferrell’s Advice to Nicole Kidman

Will Ferrell played Nicole Kidman’s husband in 2005’s Bewitched – and if she needs parenting tips, he’s available.

“For me, talk to your children, at least once a week,” Ferrell, the father of sons Magnus, 4, and Mattias, 1, joked to PEOPLE at Tuesday’s premiere of Step Brothers in L.A.

“If you’ve got time, do it two or three times a week,” he adds. “But otherwise, I find the times where I let weeks and weeks go by without talking to my children, that adds up.”

Week-old news of Kidman’s baby’s birth was slow getting to Ferrell. Kidman’s daughter, Sunday Rose, was born July 7.

“I actually didn’t know that,” Ferrell said, when asked about the birth. “Congratulations, Nicole! Did she have a boy or girl? A daughter. That’s great!”

Asked if Magnus and Mattias are aspiring funnymen like their father, Ferrell, 41, said straight-faced, “No, they’re not funny. They’re deadly serious.”

First Look at Will Ferrell In Land Of The Lost

Here’s your first look at Will Ferrell in the big screen adaptation of ‘Land of the Lost.’ Ferrell plays Park Ranger Rick Marshall who, along with his two children, inadvertently stumble into a mysterious land populated by dinosaurs and other creatures, including the mysterious and dangerous race of Sleestak’s. From the pictures, it looks like the theme of the movie will be more slapstick silly than serious. In the scene, Ferrell tosses the cigarette butt and the cheetos bag in the lake.

The World has their Cha-Ka

“So we know who will be playing Marshall, Will and Holly in Universal’s big LAND OF THE LOST adaptation (that would be Will Ferrell, Danny McBride and Anna Friel) but who will be playing their simian-like cavemen guide Cha-ka? JoBlo.com can exclusively report that HOT ROD and “Saturday Night Live” star Jorma Taccone has signed on to star as Cha-ka in the film.”
