Cloverfield scares up big DVD business

May 2, 2008

“Cloverfield” enjoyed a monster debut on DVD, topping the U.S. DVD sales and rental charts its first week in stores, according to data issued Wednesday.

The sci-fi actioner, which earned more than $80 million at the North American box office, bumped the previous week’s top seller, “Juno,” to No. 2 on Nielsen VideoScan’s sales chart.

“Charlie Wilson’s War,” debuted at No. 3, followed at No. 4 by “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” still a strong seller in its fourth week in release. Also new was the horror remake “One Missed Call” at No. 7.
