Why Fark, Drudge and Huffington when you can Buzz!?Upcoming NBC gabber “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” continues to fill out its production team, tapping Gavin Purcell to join the show.
Purcell recently departed his post as exec producer of G4’s signature daily series “Attack of the Show” to join “Late Night,” where he’ll serve as co-producer.
He’ll report to recently named “Late Night” showrunner-producer Mike Shoemaker, as well as exec producer Lorne Michaels.
Purcell’s hire comes as Fallon prepares to launch a regular Internet series this fall that will serve as a incubator for what “Late Night” will ultimately look and feel like when it launches next spring.
Shoemaker officially took the reins of the show earlier this month but has been developing the new “Late Night” with Fallon from almost the moment the latter took the gig.
Fallon identified Purcell early on as a potential recruit for the show. The star has been a regular viewer of “Attack of the Show,” which evolved in recent years into a showcase for Internet-centric pop culture. According to Purcell, Fallon would like to include a similar sensibility on “Late Night.”
