Film director Michael Moore will make his movie “Slacker Uprising” free for download on September 23 to residents of the United States and Canada.

“Slacker Uprising,” a 97 minute long documentary will be available for download to people who sign up on the website slackeruprising.com. The film was made while Moore made a tour through 62 cities during the election in 2004, to gather young voters and is a way for Moore to help with the presidential election of November this year.

Moore hopes the movie will motivate young people to vote on November elections and he expects the number of “slackers” voters increases this year, the Associated Press reported today.

The film’s making cost was about $2 million from which Moore contributed with $1 million of his own money. Moore and the distributor have no attempt to make the film profitable, according to the source.

An official statement about the film “Slacker Uprising” is expected to be released on Friday.
