An open letter to Jeffrey Wells and our two readers – Hollywood Newsroom 2.0 Launches
Hollywood Newsroom is now Buzz Newsroom! Visit and bookmark our new site. Buzz is bigger and better, including sports, world news, gadgets and the entertainment news that you're used to. Same staff, just more stuff! Why Fark, Drudge and Huffington when you can Buzz!?You never want to be on the wrong side of Jeffrey Wells. Do we, the Editors of Hollywood Newsroom, want to be in the Douchebag Club – alongside Eddie Murphy, David Poland and Jon Voight. Fuck no! So when he ripped us for not having time stamps on our posts, we knew we had to straighten up. So welcome to Hollywood Newsroom 2.0, new look, tastes great, less filling – and now with FREAKIN’ TIME STAMPS! This is our official relaunch.
Ok, Jeff also said “we don’t know anything,” which is basically true. We try to Watch the Watchmen: presenting the latest entertainment headlines and stories found online. We do toss in an occasional original post (Knowles’ Clone War Review, Tom Cruise’s Adwords, Scarlett in Spirit pics, Where the Wild Thing scene, Depp on the set of Public Enemy) and will be focusing on Blu-ray reviews, but we’re too fuckin’ lazy. So we’re trying to be Drudge or Huffington Post for entertainment, kinda like an entertainment news aggregator with editors (and we’re sure someone else does it better). We love Google, but find automatic news aggregators like Google News to be zzz. Where’s the love? Where’s the snark?
Lastly, Mr. Wells has mentioned “someone called Hollywood Newsroom Editor…” and yes, we currently go by the simple name of Editor. We ain’t Gawker or AOL, we ain’t “FAT CATS” like Mr. Wells or Harry. This is a virtual operation. Both us “Editors” (or, copynpasters, as we prefer) have day jobs, and hell ya, we post during the day while at work. Also, one editor is in the entertainment industry, so we have to be hush-hush. This is also the reason why we can’t post constantly, cuz our bosses are peeking over our cubes. And proofers? Who needs proofers?! This is just our little side project; join us as we have fun and try to embarrass ourselves.
So we’re trying some new things out, might be bumpy here and there. If you like, dislike, call us names, go for it and talk-back. And as summer comes to a close, we say good-bye to Joey the Intern (below) as he returns to LATTC in the fall. Semper Fi!
